The other option might be to simply turn the entire saw upside down, fully assembled, to work on it. Because this is a contractor saw it is very likely (almost certain) that the trunnion assembly will be attached to the table itself, which would mean that removing the table would allow you far better access to all the components with less chance of injuring yourself as you could simply lay the entire assembly on a convenient work surface (or sawhorses).

There is a chance that you may be able to do the work from below (wear good eye protection!) without pulling the table, but that will be a very awkward way to work on the saw and there may be portions of the trunnion assembly impeding your access. If they are an interference fit (particularly the one retained in the arbor bracket), and it is very likely at least one of them will be (specifically the bearing on the arbor shaft), then you will almost certainly want to be tackling such from above rather than below.

Some models may have two flats ground into opposing sides of the nut, in which case you may be able to use a standard wrench, depending upon available clearance.Ī lot will depend upon how much work is required to remove the bearings from their receiving cups in the trunnion's arbor bracket assembly and how much effort is required to extract the arbor shaft from the arbor bracket.
