You made your point I made my point and we both like W40k. You know what, this discussion is starting to bore me. It still a RTS so of course the RPG element is not the most complete. disappointing, to say the least, it pretty much consisted of replacing the clone of one weapon with another clone of that same weapon, hardly ground-breaking in any regard. Retribution: Not the best one I admit, especially the end boss who take forever to kill.Īlso, the RPG elements in the game were. Less side-quest than previously, but more unique gameplay or gimmick about them. Also a lot of side-quest randomly and always generated.Ĭhaos Rising: Avoiding too much corruption causing by chaos weapons, but tempting to use them in high difficulty because they are more powerful than normal objects. DOW2 original: avoid the Tyrranid infestation to spread too much by capturing, defending temples and killing important tyrranid creatures.

Also with Dow2 you can do co-op in campaign.Įach expansion offered something special to the mix, an entirely different campaign play-style, where in DOW2 it's just the same, bland thing over and over. I don't call that a fast mission to complete (I'm not saying it sucks either). DOW1 you have to develop a base and defend against some minors attack until you finished to make your huge army. Originally posted by Freedom:Are you seriously arguing that the DOW2 campaign where you have four squads that go and clear and map of static defenders is better than the varied DOW1 campaigns? You don't have to clear the map to finish missions and your 4 squads are already ready for actions at the beginning. For me a mediocre game is something like Ride to hell or any of these damn videogames from movie. I will finish this by saying you have a weird definition of mediocre game. I am not into mods, so knowing Dow1 is better in that is not really affecting me. Maybe I would play more of Starcraft 2 if it had that kind of thing to encourage team games. Your transport can give reinforcement to your allies and your hero gain xp by reanimating an allie hero. Playing 1 vs 1 is a bad idea because of unbalance races, but the real fun is in team anyway. However I played enough of dow2 online to know I love it. The scenario and the respect of the warhammer 40k is excellent in both Dow and in my opinion a real fan should possess both series.įor the multiplayer I can't talk about Dow1 because I wasn't into that when I played the game a lot.

Yes Retribution let me down a little with his campaign but I loved the original and chaos rising. Dow2 have the good idea of using rpg elements where you have hero who gain xp and have a inventory to manage. Dow1 missions you just have to build a base until you can make a huge army to destroy the enemy base (like most RTS's campaign before). However in term of campaign I prefer Dow2. Except Soulstorm who takes ages to load one game and offer not really interesting new units (air unit? Dow1 don't need that). I played Dow1 and all his stand Alone and yes they are good. Originally posted by Freedom:This, DOW2 is crap in comparison to DOW1You don't hate it hum? Because "crap" is the word I used the most to designate something I like. Oh and my favorite part would undoubtedly be how the entire point of removing base-building was so the battlefield would become mobile, with players fighting all over the map ((Very small maps, truth be told)Which also happen to run very badly on many machines), yet they still kept the HQ building, so the battlefield remained static just without any way to expand your influence, genius. It's running an obnoxious version of the CoH1 Essence engine, super small squads, even with the swarm factions you never really swarm, you spend all muiltiplayer games running around like a chicken with its head cut off try to ninja-capture all the points on the map, which you can't lock down.Īll the "Campaigns" for Retribution are just the same campaign copied and pasted over and over again, all the DOW2 games are severely lacking in content, especially when compared to the gem they came from.
HOW TO INSTALL DAWN OF WAR 2 RETRIBUTION MODS MODS
This, DOW2 is crap in comparison to DOW1, also the mods for DOW1 are better, this is coming from someone who modded DOW2 (Map making and a full-out conversion mod), specifically.
